01/26/2011 - Opening ceremony in Loebnitz

Loebnitz solar park, which was completed in December 2010 is now ready for the official opening ceremony. On January 30 the park will be open to the public for information between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The 1.4 MWp park is equipped with just under 7,000 modules which are capable of generating more than 1.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. This covers the yearly electricity demand of roughly 800 persons and allows for the saving of 600,000 kilograms carbon dioxide per year.

Maximizing the amount of value creation in the region was a high priority concern - most of the associated tasks were allocated to local and regional companies, from gardening work to container services and material supply.

At the same time, projects like this clearly demonstrate the manifold advantages of photovoltaics for sustainable regional development: local use of solar energy reduces both the dependence on finite raw materials and climate-damaging emissions of carbon dioxide.
