A 1.1 megawatt peak solar power park was completed within a record-breaking time of only three weeks on December 20th 2010. The park consists of 5,100 modules and was constructed in the commercial area of Oerzen just outside the northern German city of Lueneburg. The park’s capacity meets the energy demand of about 600 households per year.
Mixed ground structure and fierce weather conditions proved a challenge to everyone involved in the construction. Despite poor soil quality and ice and snow the solar park could be officially handed over to the network operator before the end of the year, thus guaranteeing the operation of the park to the more attractive feed-in-tariff of 2010.
The park’s connection to the grid will follow in short time.
